SUPPORT ASLA UTAH ADVOCACY

from $50.00

We need to share what we do and the impact of our work. The ASLA Utah Chapter is doing that more than ever, even though much of it is behind the scenes. We need your support as we support what you do.

The ASLA Utah Chapter has been diligently working behind the scenes for years to educate and advocate for landscape architecture in our state. However, amid our busy lives, these efforts are often challenging to execute adequately. Many opportunities for proactive advocacy arise during workday meetings or events that may go unnoticed by those solely focused on their work. The 2023 Utah Legislative Session highlighted the importance of not only defending our profession at these meetings but also proactively influencing policies relevant to our work.

Recently, the Utah ASLA Executive Committee has been exploring ways to increase our involvement in Utah’s political arena. Recognizing the expertise and time required for effective advocacy, we made the significant decision to enlist the help of Dave Kallas, a Utah lobbyist. Dave’s assistance has been invaluable in helping us navigate the complexities of the Utah capital, enabling us to defend the profession of landscape architecture and identify areas within our state’s code and laws where our professionhas been left out and should be acknowledged.

This decision has been a game changer relative to our advocacy efforts. The 2024 Utah legislative session has been particularly busy, and Dave's support has been instrumental in building relationships with key stakeholders and introducing House Bills that highlight the significance of landscape architecture beyond common perceptions.

Through site tours and engagements, we have been able to showcase that landscape architecture is a vital profession essential to Utah’s future.
