HERRIMAN TOWNE CENTER

The middle section of the creek element is an interactive runnel water feature. The large fire ring of Fire and Ice Plaza is to the right of the stream.

A representation of nearby Kennecott Copper Mine is shown here on the northwest edge of the history walk. Depictions of other historical elements including old Fort Herriman and Dryland Farming are also located along the History Walk, which can be identified by the ribbon of colored concrete visible in this photo.

Centered between City Hall and the Band Stand, the Compass Plaza helps identify six major peaks visible from Herriman. Standing in the center and looking out, each boulder aligns with a peak.

Looking toward the bandstand across J Lynn Crane Park from the steps of City Hall, many of the significant elements of the Towne Center are visible. The Ice Ribbon, being used by cyclists in this photo, surrounds the Splash Pad, Interactive River, Fire and Ice Plaza, and Sun Plaza. Visible in the foreground is the colored concrete ribbon of the History Walk. It loops around the ice ribbon connecting to elements and signage depicting historically important elements of Herriman.

These children are enjoying the Natural Creek water feature segment of the implied meandering creek that runs through the Towne Center.

In winter, the Ice Ribbon is a popular skating destination. The Fire and Ice Plaza, not pictured here, offers fire pits and warming stations for skaters to take a break or onlookers to more comfortably observe while they sip their hot chocolate from the concessions stand.

The splash pad at the southern end of Fire and Ice Plaza provides an exciting place to cool down in the summer. It is sited to fit into the implied stream that transverses the Towne Center.

Beyond the Ice ribbon, the implied stream that traverses the Towne Center is represented by a dry steam bed adding variety and interest with texture and plants at the edge of the Amphitheater Lawn.

The Band Stand prominently stands at the south end of the Towne Center and is flanked by restrooms, staging, and support buildings. The Amphitheater Lawn gently slopes toward the stage providing a large gathering area for performances and events.

J. Lynn Crane Park is the realization of former Mayor Crane’s vision for a community gathering place where residents socialize and play. Adjacent to City Hall, the park has already become an amazing space for city events, is consistently packed with families, and the ice ribbon is a big hit. The park features a bandstand, playground, pavilion, grass area, fire pits, gazebo, a history walk, an interactive river and splash pad, and ice ribbon. The project was designed to:
